The All New Ford Explorer introduces Selfseal tires by Michelin

The All New Explorer by Ford is now available with new Michelin® Selfseal® tires. The tires are lined with rubber sealant that is environmentally friendly to fill most common tread punctures from objects like nails and screws which will dramatically slow down the rate at which the air leaks.
The proprietary tires seal 90 percent of the punctures in tread with a span of a quarter-inch in diameter, this in turn helps long trip commuters avoid potentially dangerous roadside repair and loss of vehicle control.
These tires will come as standard on the Platinum and Limited Hybrid four-wheel-drive models of the Explorer and will be optional on Limited two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models.
Joseph Billman, Ford wheel and tire engineer said “Nothing derails a family vacation like a flat tire, Explorer is the ultimate road trip family hauler – and it’s the perfect fit for these new Michelin® Selfseal® tires.”
The Ford Explorer is the first in the world to offer Michelin® Selfseal® tires on SUV, Craig Patterson, Explorer marketing manager said “The all-new Explorer is designed to help our customers feel unstoppable and worry-free, the availability of these new Michelin® Selfseal® tires is another great example of that.”
